Starting from 22th of February to the 28th of February, Milan fashion week (MFW) will represent the fall/winter collection of 2011-2012. The fashion week represents a huge program of runway shows. With the aim of promoting Italy’s fashion talent to the world. The February fashion week embodies the will of all fashion designers and brands to have a strong completive fashion week to display their latest collections in runways shows on seven days, from Wednesday to Tuesday. I will be covering some of the looks from the top shows in Milan
While bright colors have dominated the catwalk for the few seasons, Gucci bucked the trend at Milan Fashion Week, featuring mostly blacks and opulent shades of deep greens, navy blues and burgundy. Models wore dramatic evening dresses in crushed velvet, feathers and chiffon.
“This is modern-day romanticism. A dramatic sensuality, a dark glamour. With subtle tones of provocative intellect,” designer Frida Giannini said.
Etro returns to its iconic paisley roots for its winter collection in Milan’s catwalk on Friday. Most of the outfits were based on pattern work, which is what make Etro’s collection special and unique. The collection displayes elegancy and femininity with stretch dresses, corsets, and fishtail flared skirts.
Outfits are in creams and soft pinks and overstated with curving black lines, following the body’s curves. Navy blue and woodland greens and orange is used a lot in Etro’s collection too. Paisley patterns were elegantly worn on trousers and dresses.
Giorgio Armani’s comes again to Milan Fashion Week with a beautiful collection that is based on pearly fabrics of lightweight silk and satin with fluid shades of blue. The outfits consist of cropped suiting options whether you prefer short skirts or trousers. His line emphasizes the feminine form with dramatic looks which was also decorated with glitter for a nighttime gorgeous look.
